This documentary covers the Pictures from Yesteryear event, which was organized by the Department of Ethnology and World Studies, University of SS Cyril and Methodius in Trnava in association with the Nation’s Memory Institute and the Slovak National Museum (Dolná Krupá)
The event took place on 21st November 2015 and it also launched the exhibition of the same name that went on until the end of March 2015. The event consisted of three major parts – 1. introductory speeches that highlighted goals of MYPLACE project and launched the exhibition as one of its results; 2. screening of the documentaries produced by Nation’s Memory Institute. Both documentaries were chosen in order to stimulate the debate that followed; 3. the debate between the invited guests (along with questions from audience). The central theme of the debate was “freedom”, since it appeared to be the main criterion present in numerous public documents according to which the difference between the past and the present were judged.
